Each March, in conjunction with the National Education Association’s Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’ Birthday, the Fairfax Education Association and the Lions Clubs in Northern Virginia collect unwanted eye wear. All of the collected glasses are sent to the eyeglass recycling center in Falls Church and are prepared to be donated to eye care clinics in Fairfax County and across the world. Your old eyeglasses can help turn someone’s dream of clear sight into a reality!

If your school would like to participate and you do not already have a collection box, you should request a collection box from FEA to use either in the front office or the library. FEA reps may take the box to the FEA office any time in March or the box can be sent to the FEA Office in the PONY mail. You may extend your collection throughout the month of March; simply let us know that you are extending the time. Questions can be directed to president@fairfaxea.org.
