We have worked with the FCPS administration to advocate for the standardizing of intent to return forms. Most schools are now using the short form template recommended by the district. We have worked with a handful of schools during the 2014-15 school year to push back against intent forms which required significantly more information than necessary. We are also working with the district on the timelines surrounding the staffing process, from intent to return forms to the timing for Transfair. The attempt to collect information sooner this past year was useful from the perspective of school staffing planning, but it created complications for some employees who needed additional time to determine next years’ plans. We will continue to seek input from and advocate for the rights of our members regarding these complex staffing matters.
