Fairfax Education Association is almost 100 years old. Now, thanks to you, I will soon become the latest link in the chain of leaders stretching back to Mary Snead in 1920. I am deeply moved and grateful for your faith in me.
On August 1, I will become your new president-elect and will serve a one-year term. Then a year later, I will serve our members, our students, and our community as your FEA president.
First and foremost, I want to thank Cheryl Binkley for running a spirited campaign. While serving on the board, I’ve gotten to know Cheryl and I can tell you she is dedicated to keeping Fairfax County schools among the best in the nation. She brought some great ideas to the forefront that we need to seriously consider in order to move forward. Thank you, Cheryl.
I also want to give a shout out to Kimberly Adams, our current president. Kimberly’s intelligence, compassion and dedication are an inspiration. I continue to learn from her every day.
Thank you to all the members who took time out to participate in this year’s election. Your voices are essential to the Fairfax Education Association because it lends legitimacy to our organization. Without you electing our leaders, the FEA’s mission can lose its purpose.
I believe that our collective experience in all employee groups gives us an advantage. I want to invite all members to talk to me about what you want out of your organization to impact what happens in the county. Feel free to email me your ideas and suggestion. Until I get my own FEA email address, just send an email to email@example.com and write “For Kevin” in the subject line.
I love the Fairfax Education Association because, through our collective effort, it is the strongest organization representing education professionals in Virginia. For over 11 years, I’ve been working on your behalf because I believe the work we do is absolutely essential to the students and employees of Fairfax County Public Schools. I want to thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading you and I look forward to working with you over the coming years.
President-Elect, Fairfax Education Association
